Mrs. Amy Herfindahl
Mrs. Herfindahl graduated from the
University of Minnesota Duluth in 2007
with a double major in Vocal Music
Education K-12 and Vocal Performance.
During her time in Duluth, Amy conducted
both children’s and adult choirs at various
churches and performed in many, many
more. In addition, as a coloratura soprano,
Amy performed the roles of Gilda (Rigoletto),
Musetta (La Boheme) and Lauretta
(Gianni Schicci) with the UMD and U of M Opera Theater programs. She also performed the roles of Titania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and The Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) with the Lyric Opera of the North. She was the soprano soloist for Poulenc’s Gloria and Mozart’s Mass in c minor with UMD’s University Singers and Symphony Orchestra, and the Paris Sinfonietta. Amy was the soprano section leader for the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Chorus and performed selections from Copland’s Old American Songs with the DSSO during their annual summer concert in Solon Springs, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Herfindahl is currently in her tenth year of teaching and her ninth year in the Elk River School District where she teaches general music and is the choral director for Zimmerman Middle and High School. A 2010 graduate of Bethel University, Amy earned her Master’s Degree in Education K-12 and completed her thesis; which focused on the integration of the fine arts into the daily classroom. She presented the findings of her research to colleagues during the 2011 Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic.
